Random Chance, winner of 14 races and over $270,000 from Brian Anderton’s Wingatui stable, has joined the Pukekohe stable of Gary Ritchie to continue a northern campaign which has yielded wins in the Counties Cup and the Auckland Racing Club’s Christmas Handicap. A Three Legs colt which was won in a raffle by Gary and Lorraine McDonnell, of Alexandra, Random Chance established his class in winning the New Zealand Two
Thousand Guineas, keeping out a talented band of northerners including Bonecrusher. His performance in the Auckland Cup on Friday showed he has stamina limitations, but his sharp speed and front-running powers should make him a force in the 1600m2000m range in the north. The Air New Zealand Stakes will almost certainly be on his programme. When he finishes racing Random Chance might be syndicated to join the stallion bank of a North Island stud.
