Regan battles on

PA Auckland A kidney problem is affecting little Regan Chibnail in his fight to survive his liver transplant. The two-year-old Hamilton boy’s father, Mr lan Chibnail, said fluid was being retained in the body. Regan’s face, joints and lungs were swollen because of the defective kidneys. Daily tests were showing slight improvement in his new liver,

but he was still being kept alive by a ventilator. "Doctors have to try to remove the fluid and are using drugs,” Mr Chibnail said from Brisbane Royal Children’s Hospital. “Regan’s face is very swollen, his eyes are very pussy and it is really hard for him to keep them open. “The new liver is picking up a little, but this does not help.”
