Imran resists return
NZPA-AFP Muscat Imran Khan, under pressure to resume the captaincy of Pakistan, says there is no reason to come out of his “wellconsidered” retirement. The Pakistanis want the all-rounder, aged 35, to return and lead the side on their West Indies tour next March, but he said he was not aware of any request from his team mates to revise his decision. Javed Miandad succeeded Imran, but following the series against England he reportedly wants to relinquish the cap-
taincy because it has affected his batting. Imran said he has been approached by the cricket authorities and asked what would be his reaction if his return ,was formally requested by his team mates. Imran said, “Let me go back home. I have already overstayed for about a week. I need to see what is happening in Pakistan.” But Imran, who left Muscat for Lahore on Saturday, added that “it is good to quit when one is still in demand. I hate a situation where one is asked to go.”
