Coach nominations
PA Wellington Two nominations for track coach to next year’s Seoul Olympics had been received by the national cycling association, said the chairman, Bruce Shephard. The Edinburgh Commonwealth Games road coach, Ron Cheatley, and the Aucklander, Jack Broome, have put their names forward after the association reopened nominations last month, standing down the current track coach, Don Johnson. Mr Shephard said Cheatley’s and Broome’s creden-. tials would be reviewed for grading to “comply with the requirements of the position”. If Cheatley and Broome both comply with the requirements, a postal ballot of the N.Z.A.C.A. will be held to determine the appointee. Mr Shephard said it was proposed to appoint a track coach before trials are conducted at Wanganui on February 12-14.
