A.L.A.C. move for parents

PA Wellington The Alcoholic Liquor Advisory Council is helping to set up a national Parents Against Drunk Drivers group. A.L.A.C. central’s regional officer, Alan Bilham, has organised a

meeting on December 16 for parents or relatives of people killed in motor accidents involving alcohol. He lost a daughter about four years ago in an accident involving a drunk driver. He said yes-

terday he believed there was a need for such a group. Similar groups such as Students Against Drunk Drivers and Mothers Against Drunk Drivers already existed, but Mr Bilham hoped the P.A.D.D.

group would bring all such groups together. The group would act as both a therapeutic selfhelp group for parents and relatives who had lost a loved one because of a drunk driver and as an advisory group on the issue. It could also have a role as a lobby group. Mr Bilham said A.L.A.C. would pay a lot more attention next year to the part alcohol had in motor accidents.
