Burglar kills pet

A Christchurch family’s dog was killed by a burglar and left in their swimming pool on Friday evening.

The dog’s owner returned to his Tuam Street home about 1130 p.m. and disturbed a man on the property.

The burglar had entered thi

house after finding a key and had begun to remove a video recorder and stereo. After the man ran off, the owner discovered the family dog, which had been tied to the back door of the house, dead in the pool. It had been choked by a sock tied around its neck.
