Jockeys face busy programme
PA New Plymouth At least four Central Districts jockeys will be riding at both North Island race meetings on Saturday. David Walsh (Feilding), Jim Walker (Hawera), Noel Harris (Palmerston North) and Brian Hibberd (Palmerston North) will ride at the Otaki-Maori Club’s meeting during the day and then fly north to ride at the Avondale Jockey Club’s night meeting.
Walsh, who has ridden at most racetracks in New Zealand, said it was the first time he will ride at two race meetings on the same day.
Walsh has a number of rides at the Otaki meeting and has the important mount on Taranaki sprinter, Courier Bay, in the $60,000 Concorde Handicap at Avondale.
