Datacom Svstems is restructuring its organisation into two regions, north and south, w'hich will have headquarters in Wellington. The Christchurch-founded company now has business throughout the country, and its headquarters are in Auckland.
The chief executive, Mr Paul Hargreaves, said much greater emphasis would be placed on account management in the new structure. The northern region, based at Auckland, will include Waikato operations, while the southern region, based in Wellington, includes South Island operations. The northern regional manager is Mr lan McKinnon, previously Auckland manager, and Mr Murray Ward has been appointed Waikato branch manager. From January the Wellington manager, Mr Lee Wheeler, becomes the southern, regional manager and in Christchurch, Mr John Tolchard has been appointed South Island branch manager.
Mr Morris Hodges, previously marketing manager in Wellington, has been appointed to the new position of national sales manager, based at Auckland. Mr Graham Hendry continues as national marketing manager.
The two regional managers, with the national sales and national marketing managers will report' directly to the chief executive. The manager of Datacom Systems Canterbury, Mr Bryce Hodgson, will move to take up the position of President of Userware in Escondido, California, in February. Userware has had a close business association with Datacom Systems for many years and is the supplier of some of Datacom’s key software application products. Mr George Mac Gibbon of Auckland, previously managing director of Datacom Systems, is now undertaking private consulting work, including assignments for Datacom Systems. Mr Hargreaves said Datacom Systems would continue to provide the full range of services and resources at all its centres.
He predicts Datacom Systems and Datacom Group will post a healthy financial result for this calendar year and that the company will now be set up with a “very effective operation” for 1988. “Our projections indicate that Datacom Systems, together with the other companies in the group, should perform very strongly next year.”
