Coaching positions
PA Wellington The management committee of the Wellington Rugby Football Union meets today to elect its representative coaches for the 1988 season, with the A team vacancy attracting most attention. Earle Kirton, the successful coach for the last two years, has dropped out of the running because of his elevation to the national selection panel, and when nominations closed on November 20, the Wellington union had received only three names for consideration. Kirton has since had his name scratched, leaving
old Wellington clubmates, Alan Muir and Graham Williams, the only candidates. But with furthur nominations able to be made from the . floor of the meeting.;- there is wide speculation that more names will be thrust into thelimelight. i - Among these is the former AU Black captain,. Andy Leslie, the current Petone coach who originally was nominated Only for the Wellington Colts coaching position. It is understood heavy lobbying has been carried out since Kirton withdrew, but at last report LesUe had not changed his mind.
