Ferndale wins cup

Ferndale School has won the Keep Christchurch Beautiful Cup for being the most litter-free school in the Christchurch City Council area. Each year the council runs a Clean School competition in support of the Keep Christchurch Beautiful Campaign. The school in each ward judged to have the least litter on its grounds is awarded the Clean School Shield for that ward.

This year, for the first time, last year’s shield winners competed against one another for the title of cleanest school in Christchurch and the Keep Christchurch Beautiful Cup.

Mr Gerald Maister, a representative of the Canterbury Education Board on the Keep Christchurch Beautiful Campaign’s Equation Sub-committee, presented the cup to the pupils and staff at Ferndale School on Friday. The competition for the cup between the top five schools was described as “very keen."
