Junior Kiwi barred

PA Auckland A member of the Junior Kiwis which recently toured Britain was last evening barred by the New Zealand Rugby League from playing the sport until March 31, 1989, for damage to a Wigan hotel. A second player on that tour was severely reprimanded by the league.

Their names were withheld in consideration of the players’ youth. The league heard reports from the Junior Kiwi managers.

Meanwhile, the Junior Kiwi captain. Dean Clark, and the Wellington representative and Junior Kiwi, Tony Kemp, have been named to complete the New Zealand league’s

"rookies” programme. They were named last evening to be eligible for a free transfer to an Australian club in 1988 as part of their development and for the future of the code in this country. The clearance, for one year only, is to be negotiated between the player and the club concerned.
