Last say on nuke impact
PA Wellington The deadline for public submissions to the Planning Council’s report on the impact of a nuclear war in New Zealand is tomorrow. However, a Ministry for the Environment spokeswoman, Ms Karen Cronin, said submissions would still be welcome after that.
More than 100 submissions had been received, she said. The public had been asked to comment on the report's findings on the effects of a nuclear war in New Zealand and suggestions for a followup programme to the study. The report suggested that public knowledge of the likely im Pacts of
nuclear war should be improved, contingency plans drawn up and measures to prevent nuclear war encouraged. Ms Cronin said most submissions seemed to be in agreement with the Planning Council’s findings.
