Buses for Paparoa park
The public is encouraged to use the new Paparoa National Park from Saturday, December 5, when New Zealand’s newest nark — on the West Coast between Greymouth and Westport — is opened officially.
Public buses will leave Westport and Greymouth Post Offices for the park
at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The opening ceremony will begin at the Punakaiki Visitor Centre at 11.30 a.m.
A feature story in “The Press” yesterday said the opening ceremony would be on December 7.
Oh Sunday, December 6, after the first day of opening activities, a guided climb of Mt Bovis,
for those of reasonable fitness, will start at 6 a.m. Other activities that day will include a Bullock Creek-Fox River Walk, starting at 8 a.m.; a trip to the Fox River Cave and Cave Stream South, starting at 10 a.m., and a Metro Cave tour with details provided at the camp ground.
