Alter the weekly two hour general debate, Mr A. R. (Allan) Wallbank (Lab., Gisborne), tabled a report from the Primary Production Select Committee on the survey and lands estimates. Mr Noel Scott (Lab., Tongariro) tabled the report of the Education and Science Select Committee on the Methodist Charitable and Educational Trusts Amendment Bill and recommended it proceed as amended. Debate on the report back of the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association Amendment Bill from, the Social Services Select Committee by Mrs Judy Keall (Lab., Glenfield), was interrupted when the House adjourned for dinner at 5.30 p.m. After the House resumed at 7.30 p.m. the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association Amendment BUI was passed through its committee stages and set down for a third reading. Mr W. F. Birch (Nat., Franklin) moved the introduction of the Labour Relations (Flexible Bargaining) Bill as a private member’s bill. The bill’s introduction was refused after a 48-33 vote. Before an interrupted debate on the third reading of the Wages Protection and Contractors’ Liens Act Repeal Bill began, Mr R. J. S. Munro (Nat., Invercargill) moved that the bill be sent back to a select committee. The motion was lost, 32-48. Mr Munro then moved an amendment delaying the third reading by three months.
