Sumner gardens on show
A tour of beautiful and unusual gardens in the Sumner area is being held on Saturday, December 5, starting from the Sumner School Hall in Wiggins Street at 10 a.m. The gardens are all different from last year’s tour.
Three gardens on Clifton Hill feature old fashioned roses, an interesting assortment of trees, shrubs, and ground covers in a particularly large garden, and sweeping lawn and manicured beds overlooking Moncks Bay.
An old garden in central Sumner has been given a “woodsy” feel with a lot of camellias and old trees. A Moncks Spur garden features a beautifully presented old-fashioned rose garden with lovely views.
Two very different gardens in Redcllffs round off the tour: an average-size section which has been tranaformed into a woodland garden with pungas, camellias, and clematis; and -a beautiful “greygarden with impressive rose arches and meandering paths. Tickets cost $ll, which includes entry to the gardens, lunch with wine or fruit juice, and a garden stalL provide their own transport. Proceeds In aid of Sumner School.
