Cookson.— Mrs J. Starling (30 Bay Road, Warrington, Dunedin) seeks information on tbe descendants of Joseph Cookson. Mr Cookson died at the age of 60 a few weeks after his arrival in New Zealand from Cheshire in 1860. It is known that Joseph’s son, Edwin, and daughters, Caroline - and Sophie, were once in Christchurch. Sophie married George Froggett and died in 1913 (no issue). Caroline and Edwin also married. Little is known of Joseph's wife, Sarah, who may have had other children, too. Information is also sought on descendants of James Froggett, who arrived at
Dunedin on the Mongol in Febuary, 1874.
Simmonds.— Mrs Lorraine Baughan (nee Simmonds) is compiling a family history and wishes to establish contact with any descendants or friends of William Albert and Kathleen Georgina Simmonds (nee Craike). It is believed that William and Kathleen had six children in Auckland, some of whom settled in the Wellington area in the 19405. William is said to have descended from whaling and sealing families working in New Zealand waters in early colonial days. Mrs Baughan’s address: Hinds, No. 5 R.D., Ashburton.
