The record-breaking price of 20,000 c a kilogram for one bale from Mt Gerald station was by far the individual highlight of the Timaru sale, but many other lines of Merino wool sold for excellent prices. „ . . Among Mt Gerald's big clip of wether wool were 10 bales of woolly hogget of 18 microns which made 2305 c (72.7 per cent yield) and three other bales of similar description and yield at 2190 c (76.7). A. and D. France (Tekapo) received 2030 c (70.7) for seven bales of 17.8 micron woolly hogget and 1845 c (69.5) for seven bales of 18.2 micron Merino fleece among their annual consignment. A previous market-topper, D. C. M. Burnett (Mt Cook) was paid 1860 c (68.4) for one bale of 18.7 micron Merino and 1695 c (73) for five bales of 19.2 micron. Five bales of 18.1 micron from I. P. Simpson (Albury) made 1820 c (72.4), five bales of 18.2 micron woolly hogget from Glenmac station (Kurow) sold at 1880 c (71.9), and five bales of 18.1 micron from R. A. Rayne (Ashwick Flat) fetched 1800 c (72). Omahau Partnership (Twizel) received 1820 c (71.3) for two bales of 18.4 micron woolly hogget, and 1775 c (69.9) for

three bales of 18.4 micron. Another vendor from Mt Cook, G. D. Seymour, was paid 1780 c (73) for three bales of 18.6 micron Merino, W. L. Preston (Lake Pukaki) received 1747 c (71) for three bales of 18.5 micron twotooth', and J., P. Allan (Fairlie) was paid 1670 c (68.3) for five bales of 18.5 micron woolly hogget. P. J. Patterson (Oamarama) received 1625 c (75.2) for two bales of 18.8 micron, Bellamore Partnership (Kurow) 1685 c (70.5) for three bales of 18.8 micron, R. J. Aubrey (Omarama) 1645 c (73.3) for 10 bales of 18.8 micron wether, Estate R. Simpson (Tekapo) 1645 c (67.2) for six bales of 18.7 micron, and H. and R. Lory (Kurow) received 1600 c (74.3) for five bales of 19.7 micron.

Among top sales of quarterbred wool were two bales of 19.8 micron woolly , hogget from D. S. Blue (Ohau) at 1285 c (70.1) and two bales of 21.2 micron from A. G". Mcßae (Hakataramea Valley) at 870 c (69.4). Four bales of 20.1 micron Polwarth woolly hogget from I. A. Maxwell (Rangitata Gorge) made 1175 c (65.8), and five bales of 22.2 micron Polwarth from D. B. and B. M. Smith (Hakataramea Valley) sold at 770 c (72.3).

Among fine Halfbreds were seven bales of 21.5 micron woolly hogget from P. J. Walton. (Herbert) at 860 c (70.5), five bales of 22.9 micron wether from J. G. Whyte (Mayfield) at 680 c (70.9), 10 bales of 23.3 micron from Glenlyon station, Ltd (Twizel) at 651 c (72.2), and four bales of 22.9 micron shorn hogget from J. M. and T. G. Kelland (Omarama) at 651 c (69.4). Corriedale made 521 c (74.3) for five bales from D. B. and B. M. Smith (Hakataramea Valley), and 513 c (73.2) for four bales of shorn hogget from B. M. McCloy (Ashburton). An undisclosed vendor received 564 c (88.9) for eight bales of Rommey, while good prices for Romney shorn hogget included E. T. and C. A. Grigg (Mayfield) with eight bales at 536 c (80.3), M. I. and K. J. Donaldson (Hinds) with six bales of 530 c (79.8), Pikes Point Farm (Waimate) with seven bales at 548 c (79.3), D. R. Goodman and Son (Fairlie) with 10 bales of 546 c (80.9), and Elderton Brothers (Waimate) with eight bales at 539 c (79.9). Ten bales of Romney woolly hogget from Te Ngawai Partnership (Albury) made 540 c (79). Two vendors received 541 c for crossbred shorn hogget —

Waianui Partnership (Mayfield) for eight bales (80.6), and D. E. and O. R. Taylor (Waimate) for seven bales (82.8) R. J. Love (Arundel) sold eight bales at 535 c (85.8) R. J. and J. J. Robinson (Geraldine) five bales at 535 c (80), R. A. and H. R. M. Jones (Carew) eight bales' at 534 c (81.6) and H. N. Risk (Waimate) 18 bales at 532 c (80.3). Perendale made 535 c (76.9) for 15 bales from Leslie Downs (Sherwood), 528 c (78.4) for five bales from J. G. Yeatman (Ashburton), and 527 c (83.7) for five bales of second-shear from Giles Brothers (Hazelburn).

Eleven bales of Perendale cross shorn hogget from Manahune Farming (Albury) fetched 530 c (8f.l). Among Coopworth sales were 10 bales of shorn hogget from P. D. and C. B. Sleigh (Waimate) at 530 c (83.4), five bales of woolly hogget from Normanvale Estate (Hakataramea Valley) at 518 c (74.8), and 15 bales of ewe fleece from N. W. Bishop (Albury) at 508 c (81.7). Ten bales of Lincoln wether from Willowbrook Farm (Fairlie) sold at 525 c (82.6), and 19 bales of Border-Corriedale shorn hogget from K. P. Ryan and Sons (Pleasant Point) made 521 c (77.3).
