Sprints highlight
Special correspondent Hastings Fast 600 m sprints from Miss Roker and Black Emerald highlighted yesterday morning’s Hastings track work. Fast work was done on the No. 1 grass, which was very soft after steady rain over the last two days. Miss Roker (Woods) appeared to revel in the conditions when she sped over 600 m in 37.85. The little Gay Apollo filly shows promise. Black Emerald (Lange), preparing for the Wanganui meeting tomorrow week, looked to be doing her work easily at the end of a 600 m gallop, yet she still managed to record a smart 38.25. ■>
