Inter-club table tennis
Daiiington continues to force the pace in Christchurch inter-club table tennis, recording its third whitewash of the season this week.
Although Daiiington has yet to strike a leading side, it has totted up a formidable points tally and could be hard to catch.
Robert Jongenburger, Dennis Kalin and John Baxter allowed a hapless Linwood II side only one game. The top seeds, Riccarton, also had an easy win over Parklands with defensive veterans John Armstrong and Alan Alabaster in solid form to remain unbeaten. The Linwood I team con-
tinued to improve, Peter de Boer, Colin Tipper and David Johnson winning all their matches to hammer Avonside 111. Avonside 11, strengthened by Lyndon White, easily beat Avonside IV with White and Kevin Duffy not losing any matches.
The other A grade match was much closer, Riccarton II scraping home, 6-5, over Avonside V thanks to the good form of Stuart Wallace, who won his three singles. Results: Riccarton I 10, Parklands 1; Riccarton II 6, Avonside V 5; Dallington 11, Linwood II 0; Linwood I 11, Avonside 111 0; Avonside II 10, Avonside IV 1.
