New Brighton residents will have their say about the future of Queen Elizabeth II Park. The Christchurch City Council last evening deferred approval of development proposals for the park until disccussions with residents at the next parks and recreation committee. Representatives of the Queen Elizabeth II Park

Environmental Action Committee and the North New Brighton Community Council will have the right to speak at that meeting. Residents had complained that they had not been consulted about the proposals which Include involving a private developer and a special zone for the park. They believed they had been

promised that consultation. Last night, Mr Keith McKay, the chairman of the action committee, welcomed the opportunity to debate plans for the park. Cr Clive Cotton, the parks and recreation committee chairman, said the committee was always keen to have residents’ input.
