The day in Parliament
PA Wellington The Leader of the House, Mr Hunt, outlined the programme for next week when Parliament resumed yesterday.
Parliament would debate the Government estimates on all three days, although the usual general debate would be held on Wednesday. Mr Bill Dillon (Lab., Hamilton West) presented the petition of Clifford Reginald Turner of Hamilton and 4010 others, asking that a similar agreement to the code for marketing cigarettes be imposed on the liquor industry. Mr John Carter (Nat., Bay of Islands) presented three petitions asking that the Panguru agency Post Office be retained. They were from Caroline Puta and 109 others, Moss Hotere and 55 others and Maryanne Ngarapo and 60 others.
Ms Sonja Davies (Lab., Pencarrow) presented two petitions, one from Anthony John Joseph London, of Wainuiomata, and 615 others asking that the Arakura Post Office remain open and one from Alice Elizabeth Van Gaalen, of Wainuiomata, and 963 others asking that the Homedale Post Office be retained.
A petition of K. S. Richmond and others, of Tauranga, asking that the Parkvale Post Office be retained was presented by Mr Winston Peters (Nat., Tauranga).
Mrs Katherine O’Regan (Nat., Waipa) presented a petition from Murray William Hancox and 1151 others asking that the Kihiki Post Office beretained. w- Maurice McTigue (Nat.,
