Business sector challenged
The business sector has been challenged by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Cayglll, to play Its part in restructuring the New Zealand economy. Speaking at the opening of a new head office and warehouse for Diesel Services (Holdings), Ltd, In Blenheim Road, Mr Caygll said that New Zeand's future depended on the efficient production and distribution of goods and services that are Internationally competitive. t t "This requires a bust-
ness sector that accepts the opportunity presented by this Government to achieve fundamental structural change and greater efficiency," he Diesel Services had developed a national distributton network servicing several productive sectors, including heavy automotive, marine and agricultural machinery. The company's decision to invest in the new headSuarters clearly reflected s belief in its future viability, "it is an exempli of the kind of com*
merclal decision that the Government wishes the business sector to make In this country," Mr Cayglll said, Accusations had occasionally been made that the Government had little concern for the future of the regions, and of Christchurch in particular, However, the opening of Diesel Services’ new facility, and the opening of a new wool fill factory earlier In the day, led him to believe that Christchurch had a "considerable . future," he said.
