after a congratulatory hug from her brother, John, that she was “totally overwhelmed” by the win. She will now go on to the “Miss New Zealand” quest later this year. First runner-up was Donna Henry, aged 17, of Christchurch. Third place was shared by Margie Berger and

Sanne McCall, both of ristchurch. Julie Sinclair, aged 19, was chosen by her' fellow contestants as “Miss Personality.” The organiser of the pageant, Mrs Maree Pannell, said the emphasis on this year’s quest was on health and fitness, rather than solely on

beauty. The 20 finalists went through a 20-minute aerobics routine Instead of the customary swimsuit parade. The contestants paraded in evening wear made themselves, and no “measurements” were announced .by the comperes, Ken Ellis and Mark Perry, of 3ZM lit Christchurch.
