Format, draw for tourney

The Commonwealth championship format involves a round-robin event with foursomes played in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Team results are based on the aggregate total of the day’s play. A team scores one point for a win and a half point for a tie. In the event of a tie between countries, the aggregate number of the individual games won shall decide the winner of the trophy. Should this also result in a tie, the trophy shall be held for an equal period of time by each of the countries which have tied, unless one of them be the holder in which case the holder shall retain the trophy.

New Zealand will oppose the title-holder, Australia, on the first day tomorrow and the two countries have drawn each other on the opening day for the last four Commonwealth tournaments. On each occasion Australia has prevailed and ?;one on to finish either Irst or second; New Zealand may well feel it is time to set out on a successful step. The draw is:Thursday: Canada v. Great Britain; New Zealand v. Australia. Friday: Great Britain v. New Zealand; Canada v. Australia. Saturday; Canada v. New Zealand; Great Britain v. Australia.
