N.Z. dressage win
PA Wellington New Zealand notched another win over Australia, this time in the first ever international teams dressage competition. The Concours Dressage International was held during the Australian national championships in Kooralbyn Valley, near Brisbane, during the week-end. After an Invitation from the Equestarian Federation of Australia last
April, dressage supporters of the New Zealand Horse Society raised $16,000 to send a team of three horses and riders to meet the Australians at the international intermediate 1 level. The team members were the New Zealand champions, Marcia Bayley and Kentucky, from Te Awamutu, Merran Hain and Smiley John, from Gisborne, and the promising new combination of Vicki Larsen and Stipulate, from Auckland.
Kentucky also competed as an individual in the Australian championship held at the most difficult grand prix level. A third placing took them to the grand prix special where the win went to Australia’s world championships representatives, Erica Taylor and Crown Law. Only two per .cent separated the second place-getter, Di Jenkins and Clavos, from Marcia’s Kentucky who took third.
