New release of sections in Hyde Park subdivision

A new release of sections in Avonhead’s Hyde Park subdivision is scheduled for early November. Thirty-one sections will be offered for sale. The Hyde Park development in Avonhead is a major residential subdivision being undertaken by the Carter Group in association with Pavroc Holdings.

The new release is the second stage in the de-

velopment of the subdivision, says Mr Philip Carter, the managing director of the Carter Group. He is expecting a high demand for the sections, following the keen interest which has been shown in them already. Since the first stage was released in September, 1986, demand has' been “astonishing,” he says. Only seven sections remain unsold from a total of 81. Prices for these sections reached up to $70,000. Most of the houses that have been built there exceed $200,000 in value. When fully developed, the 100-acre subdivision will yield 454 home sites. This makes it the largest and also the last major subdivision in the soughtafter north-western area of Christchurch. The land extends from

Withells Road through to Russley Road. At the Russley Road end of the subdivision, a huge park, equal in size to Bumside Park, will be developed. It will be called Avonhead Park. Hawthornden Road will be extended to link up with Apsley Drive. The land is being developed as an exclusive subdivision and will be released for sale in five stages. Culs-de-sac connected by walkways are a feature and many of the streets have been named after the Stately Homes of England. Greystoke Lane, Wiltshire Mews and Arundel Gate are some of the names he has chosen for the new streets. When the subbdivision is complete its capital value will exceed SISOM, Mr Carter says.
