NZPA-AAP Sydney The Australian sharemarket suffered a record one-day point fall yesterday after the dramatic tumble on Wall Street last Friday. Brokers said a record 108.35 point fall In the Dow Jones industrial average sparked selling pressure from the bell and sharp drops on the Tokyo exchange fuelled nervousness. A solid rise in bullion prices failed to halt the slide. ' At the close the all ordinaries 'index was down a record 80.4 points, or 3.7 per cent, to 2064.2. The all industrials index dropped 154 points, or 4.8 per cent, to 3039.2 and the all resources fell 23.9 points to 1316. The gold marker gained 8.6 points to 3674.7.
