Vandals wreck car
A Falcon car was badly damaged and the fitted stereo stolen while parked near Leeston early on Sunday.
Vandals smashed the driver’s door window, two headlights, two spotlights, both tail lights and the grille. The aerial and windscreen wipers were also damaged. A rug and car seat colic’s were also stolen.
Winners in the Christchurch Catholic Diocesan art competition with the diplomas presented to them in a special ceremony by the Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, the Most ROv. Basil Meeking, last Sunday.

The competition attracted 2600 entries from pupils in Christchurch, the West Coast, Ashburton, and South Canterbury. Joanne Dickison’s entry will be the cover of a centennial booklet ,to be published in November, marking the end of celebrations. Tomorrow up to 500 senior pupils from seven Catholic colleges will sing and play at a thanksgiving Mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament
They have been drawn from colleges in the diocese, including Timaru and the West Coast
