Concrete flowing at bridge site
PA Dargaville Concrete is flowing at the Northern Wairoa Bridge site. At 7.30 a.m. yesterday the first of several truck loads of concrete rolled out of the Turiwiri plant bound for John C. Smith Construction’s site, at Dargaville. Since Thursday, September 17, the $4 million project has been the scene of industrial, .gtrife centred on the hinng of three specified P/ggers
from what has been termed "the illegal Register of Riggers.” Yesterday morning — 22 days later — work began again. Mr Albert Smith, representing the contractors, said a number of side issues had arisen but a breakthrough was made in negotiations between the Employers’ Association and Winstones, a big shareholder in Readymix and Wilsons Portland Cement.
