Assault in Square
A man was punched to the ground and kicked in Cathedral Square early yesterday. The Incident occurred about 1.30 a.m. while the victim, aged 34, was standing near the Bank of New Zealand building. Detective Senior-Ser-geant Colin Dalzell said the man was struck in the
face, suffering a swollen left eye and a bruise above the other. He fell over and was kicked. The offender was partMaori, about 1.7 m (sft 7in) tall, with black hair. He wore a white jacket and blue trousers. The victim believed his attacker had two women with him.
