The purpose of this hearing is to hear submissions from the claimants representing Poiitinl Ngal Tahu Maori owners that the Crown acted in a manner inconsistent with the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi when it imposed the form of leasehold now usually known as Maori Reserved Land leaseholds and governed by the Maori Reserved Land Act 1955.
