Tuvalu out of Games
NZPA-AAP Funafuti, Tuvalu Tuvalu has become the third country to announce it will not take part in the South Pacific Games in Noumea in December. Like the neighbouring Kiribati, Tuvalu has decided it cannot afford to send a team. Western Samoa also will miss the Games after
the Amateur Sports Association there heeded its Government’s call for a boycott on security grounds. Games authorities in Noumea had anticipated a Tuvalu team of 10 men and 10 women. Countries expected at the Games now number 17, and participating athletes about 2600.
