Challenge LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME Challenge Meats has begun a livestock development programme to help farmers help us supply our markets year round with heavy lean lamb cuts and other products. We have appointed Mr Doug Lee to livestock development manager to develop a programme of trials for year round supply and livestock that are of an ideal weight and grade. Market demand is not seasonal, but our meat industry still is. We, as a team, have to change that, and that is why Challenge is investing heavily in this livestock development programme. Our aim is for 12 month production for the supply of top quality frozen and chilled lean lamb cuts and other products. We are confident we can achieve our aims, but we need to work as a team to do this. Traditional farm management plans will have to be studied and changes might be necessary to keep up with development. Eventually, farmers will have to be concerned less with quantity and more with quality. Enquiries from suppliers can be made to: Doug Lee Livestock Development Manager Challenge Meats Mataura.
