Stocks plunge
The New Zealand stockmarket plummeted yesterday with the Barclays index finishing 76 points down. The New Zealand dollar soared as the Government signalled continued tight monetary control. The Wall Street stock market also fell yesterday with the Dow Jones industrial index experiencing its biggest one-day fall. The Dow was down 91.55 points — a fall of nearly 3.5 per cent < Details, page 25.
