The Vintage Car Club Is a national body which has about HH members. There are several provincial branches and the one In Canterbury has around 8M members. The headquarters for the Canterbury Branch occupies a 15 hectare site at Cutler Park on McLeans Island. The well-appointed facilities include the clubrooms, library, spares shed, caravan park and picnic areas. once a month there is a meeting around the spares shed and library. Opportunities are taken at these meetings to discuss various new products and other related information. Anyone Is able to join the Vintage Car Club. The only requirement Is an Interest in older cars and motor-bikes. It Is not necessary to own an old vehicle, but that is usually the aim of new members. Club members say that one does not need to be rich or own a Rolls Royce to enjoy the hobby. Enquiries about memberships will be welcomed at the headquarters caravan during the week-end Swap Meet The event will provide an ideal opportunity for Christchurch people to find out more about the activities of vintage car dubs.
