Tax cuts, GST rise linked
PA Wellington Any tax cuts planned by the Government would have to be offset by an increase in GST, said the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Bolger, yesterday. He said the Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, had not indicated if the proposed cuts would be offset
by an increase in GST. “So we must assume the tax cuts will be offset either by a rise In GST or by the Government’s requiring the new Stateowned enterprises to pay increased dividends which means increased charges to consumers,” Mr Bolger said.
