Men’s wear back
Entries close next month for New Zealand’s leading fashion competition.
The Benson and Hedges Fashion Design Awards 1988 are likely to have between 400 to 600 individual entries in seven categories. The presentation, on March 1, will again be televised live from Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre.
Christchurch’s John Juriss proved the discovery of this year’s event when he won the “Evening Post-Flair” High Fashion Daywear Award. Men’s wear returns
after slipping from the competition some years ago when the judges believed the standard of design had been disappointing.
The award’s co-ordina-tor, Maysie Bestall-Cohen says: “We now feel there is sufficient interest and talent to sustain a section that will match the standards of the others.” Each award winner gets a $2500 prize and is contention for the Supreme Award.
