Charity success
ONE OF THE biggest charity fashion shows held in Christchurch for some time was staged last month in the aircraftstrung R.N.Z.A.F. Museum’s atrium at Wigram. Jaguar Fashdance ’B7, a Round Table No. 1 project to equip a new ambulance for the Order of St John, gave a Christchurch audience their first home-turf look at the designs of young John Juriss, the discovery of this year’s Benson and Hedges Fashion Design Awards. Another first was the showing of glamour evening wear by the Auckland designer, Adrienne Winkleman, in the South Island.
Pieter’s Agency models — coiffured by one oi Christchurch’s newer salons, Ruben Blades also presented clothes from Nita Henry, Tag, She Designer Boutique, Olivia’s of Merivale, Symon and Lowther Menswear, Margaret Milne, and Benetton.
Complimentary Chloe perfume samples started the evening; some left with their red roses straight after the show, others stayed to dance, and many agreed they would return with families for a look through the surprisingly large storehouse of New Zealand aviation history.
