Marijuana seized
PA Auckland A tip-off led the police to seize about 100 marijuana plants from a secret rooftop nursery at the Auckland University Fine Arts building on Saturday, the police said. The plants were in early stages of growth and had a potential Sl million street value. They were In six trays ranging from newly germinated to 15cm-high seedlings. The haul was recovered by policemen who climbed up the outside of
the building to the roof of a third-floor veranda. The plants were photographed before being destroyed yesterday. One plant was kept for D.S.I.R. teste. ' ■ Many students and staff had keys to the building and the police expected it would be some;.time before the owner could be traced, a police spokesman said. The university’s ViceChancellor, Dr Colin Maiden, was not available for comment.
