Nelson company manager dies in Chile

Nelson reporter The maintenance manager of the Nelson-based company, Sealord Products, Ltd, took ill and died while on company business in Chile. He was John Richard Sutton, married, of Tipahi Street, Nelson. The Nelson police were advised by company officials of Mr Sutton’s

death. It is believed he died more than a week ago in the Chilean capital, Santiago. He had been due to return to New Zealand last Tuesday. A company spokesman, Mr David Little, said that few details were available. He confirmed that Mr Sutton had been in Chile on company business, but could not specify

the exact nature of his duties there. Mr Little said the death was a tragedy because Mr Sutton had been a valued loyal employee for many years. “He was a key man in our operation and had a lot of experience in the engineering side of fish processing. He was tops in his field,” he said.
