Is Jason there?” "Jason? No —” “When he comes in will you tell him that Wendy can’t make it tongiht but Shaun can in her place. OK? Thanks, bye.” She put the phone down, turned, and it rang again. ' "Hl. Sorry to bother you again, but Wendy has just said that she can make it now, and Shaun will come too. Can you tell Jason that? Bye.” This was all a bit much. The woman made herself a cup of tea to settle her nerves: who was Jason? She lived alone. The phone rang again. - “Hi, I rang earlier, twice, uK is this number 1..” and she recited “No, it isn’t, it’s such and such,
