Bishop appointment?
PA Wellington An announcement on the appointment of a Catholic Maori bishop is expected next month, the “Evening Post” reports. Pope John Paul II is believed to have given approval for such an appointment. The anniversary of the first visit by the Pope to
New Zealand, November 22, is considered an appropriate announcement date. Archbishop Antonio Magnoni, the Vatican’s representative in New Zealand, is in Rome now; According to the “Post” he is discussing details of the Maori appointment with Vatican authorities.
