Building approval for centre

The amalgamation of the Kingslea Centre and Christchurch Boys’ Home has taken another step forward. Financial approval had been given for building work to begin at Kingslea, said the Social Welfare Department’s southern regional executive officer of

residential services, Mr Vaughan Milner. It was hoped that the boys would move from the Christchurch Boys’ Home in Stanmore Road to the new Kingslea Resource Centre in May next year. About 40 residents living near Kingslea at-

tended a meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the amalgamation. A spokesman for the Residents’ Action Group in Shirley, Mr El Brussovs, said the residents wanted to be involved in the planning of the changes to make the merger as tolerable as possible.
