Community awards
Community Service Awards were presented to Mrs Nola Moffett and Mr Leo Steel by the chairmen of the Hornby and Sockburn Community Councils at the Paparua County Council Chambers on Monday evening. This was the first time the awards had been presented at a joint ceremony. The chairman of the Sockburn Community

presented with her award by the chairman of the Hornby District Community Council, Mrs Mary Corbett. Mrs Corbett said that Mrs Moffett was being given the award for her voluntary work in youth and recreation activity, education and community affairs. The Paparua County Council sponsors one en-
terprising yuung person each year to attend an Outward Bound Course and another to travel on the Spirit of Adventure voyage. Miss Michelle Polglase, aged 17, a Burnside High School pupil, will go on the Spirit of Adventure voyage; and Miss Michelle Jack, aged 19, a bank offlicer from Weedons, will go on the Outward Bound Course.
