Alcan profit
Alcan New Zealand reports a group net profit of $1,840,000 for the six months ended' June 30. This compares with a profit of $1,718,000 for the first half of last year. Turnover, at $51,627,000 was 17 per cent higher than for the corresponding period last year. However, tax was $2,681,000, compared with $1,730,000. The directors say the over-all performance of the group during the halfyear was substantially in line with forecast “It is unlikely that domestic demand will increase in the second half. Operating profit is expected to be of the same order as in the first half and therefore the full 1987 year result is expected to be lower than last year,” they say.
