Mainzeal enters car parking
Mainzeal Group, already established in the design-build arena, is making a "logical business progression” into the business of car parking, According to chairman, Mr Peter Menzies, carparking facilities have been identified as an investment area well suited to the company’s existing skills and objectives.
To head the new operation, Mainzeal Parking Pty, Ltd, has brought in an Australian parking management expert, Mr John Houston. Mr Houston has experience in both the functional design and profitable running of central car-parking facilities throughout Australia, and has been responsible for re-equipping and installing management systems in Sydney City Council’s
parking facilities which handle more than 50,000 permanent and casual vehicles daily. Formerly with one of Australia’s largest parking management companies, Mr Houston says New Zealand and particularly Auckland, is more than ready for a professional more cost effective method of parking management. He says car-parking facilities, built as part of office developments, are a special management challenge and require expert control.
“Our approach is to show they are profit making assets in their own right, if properly managed and operated, .and in fact, that their use can be extended to the benefit of the general public outside of office hours.”
