Masterclasses on piano

A well-known Christ- - church-bom pianist Jean ' Anderson, is returning to the city to give a series of piano master classes. Anderson was last in New Zealand in 1980 and gave a series then. Described as a distinguished pianist, she has studied at the London Royal Academy of Music. She has toured extensively in Britain and abroad giving performances.

Nine Christchurch pianists will be selected to take the classes. Fifty observers will be admitted to the three class sessions to be held at Canterbury University School of Music. Admission to the classes for observers will be $5 and $lO for students and non-students respectively. The sessions are on Friday, September 18, at 7.30 p.m. and Saturday, September 19, at 9.30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
