Mt Hutt venue
Mount Hutt will this week-end be the venue for the South Island junior ski-ing championships for the first time. The championships, being sponsored by Leisureland, have attracted a big entry.. . of 140 despite being held further north than usual. Normally, the championships are held at a half-way point between . the Canterbury and Southern Districts ski associations. They were originally scheduled to be held
at Mount Dobson, near Fairlie, but that ski-field is closed. The Ohau ski area was made available, but officials eventually opted for Mount Hutt Weather permitting, the giant slalom will be held today and the slalom tomorrow with no provision for a contingency,day. Of those entered, 88 are in the J2 (14 and 15 years) and J 3 (12 and 13 years) age groups, for whom the events will be national points races. .
