This target has become a major objective of both W.R.O.N.Z. and New Zealand Wool Board and is aimed at diversifying the demand for the types of wool grown in New Zealand to reduce dependence on carpets. Significant recent progress towards this goal has recently been made by scientists at W.R.O.N.Z. working in conjunction with Japanese scientists and technologists. ‘The main programme of work will build on this initial success. The person we are seeking would be capable of taking a leadership role in this research programme and a senior appointment to the W.R.O.N.Z. staff will be considered should we be fortunate enough to find an applicant with the right combination of skills. This combination would include a sound knowledge of physics, textile technology in general and experience in aspects of worsted processing and tailoring. A minimum academic background would Include a degree, ATI qualification or equivalent. An honours degree or an advanced research degree including a Ph.D qualification would be a major advantage which could offset a lack of Industrial experience.
