Spring flowers colour Square

Cathedral Square was dotted with yellow yesterday as Daffydil, the “Spring’s Here” clown, gave flowers away to lunchtime shoppers. Daffydil will be in the Square each Friday at midday for the next three weeks with her free spring flowers. She will also be at the “Spring’s Here” festival concerts which will be held each Sunday this month on the Daffodil Lawns of the Botanic Gardens. The first concert, called “In the Mood,” will be held tomorrow from 12.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. It would feature jazz and blues music, said the assistant co-ordinator of “Summer Times,” Ms Robyn Bern. Next Sunday’s concert is called “Spring Classics,” and will include groups such as the Prague Quartet and the Christchurch Guitar Academy. The concert on September 20 will feature folk music groups.
